2010 TEAMS ENTRY CANCELLED

The Busselton Jetty Swim will be held on Sunday 7th February, 2010.
It promises to be another fantastic weekend of fun for the whole family, with 2 days of entertainment and activities for all ages. At this time the Jetty will be undergoing major reconstruction and will not be available for relay changeovers. The alternative to using Allies Landing for relays would be to go back to boats as was last done five years ago. This option has been considered by the committee and is not now acceptable given the progressive move over recent years away from boat based relays to provide a safer and more manageable event. The decision therefore is that there will be no relay teams in the 2010 swim.

The state of the Jetty presents a considerable challenge to us as organizers and our decision will also now present a considerable challenge to many swimmers. We trust that publicizing the decision early gives swimmers time to make their decision to “go solo” and plan their training accordingly.

For those swimmers that cannot contemplate the solo swim around the Jetty for 2010 we are planning a short course solo swim. Further details will be made available when the format is finalized.

The Busselton Jetty has served us well over the fourteen years of the Busselton Jetty Swim. Over this period the swim event has met organizational challenges and undergone many changes as it has grown in popularity. 2010 forces us to consider that without the Jetty this great event would not happen at all. We’ll make the changes we have to in 2010 as swimmers and organizers whilst the Jetty gets a well earned “make-over” and we’ll look forward to getting the teams back and celebrating a re-born jetty with many more Busselton Jetty Swims in the years to come.
