Race Information

Race Information for the SunSmart Busselton Jetty Swim 2020

The information below is to provide you with a general idea of how the event proceeds.  Please check back again before the event.

Date:

Sunday 9 February 2020 at the Busselton Jetty.      

Start:

Main Swim : Eight waves commence at 08:00 - details of start format TBC
One Mile - Swim to Shore : 09:30
2 and 4 person relay teams start together at 08:20 TBC
Kids Swim starts at 11:30 with waves of 8 swimmers, at 30 second intervals.

Finish:

Official race cut-off times is 11:00 am for the main swim, team relays and One Mile Swim to Shore.  Cut off is 30 minutes for the Kids Swim.

Pre-Race Check-in:

Saturday 8 February 2020 14:30 - 18:30 (preferred option) check-in times will be staggered to minimise waiting times and will be allocated with your e-ticket  OR Sunday 9 February 2020 06:00 – 07:00 

At check-in swimmers: show their e-ticket, hand in a signed copy of the swimmer declaration (waiver), receive their bag, swim cap, timing band, start wave and race number tattoo.  Note: ID may be requested.

Briefing:

Swimmers 07:15 near the start area.

Authorised support craft 07:00 Conducted by Surf Life Saving, location TBA.

Kid's Swim 11:15 at the Kid's Swim start, east of the swimming jetty.

Assemble on the beach at 11:10am.  Start commences at 11:30.

 

Awards:

11:45 (approx) at the main stage. Swimmer category winners are to proceed to the stage area at 11:30, prior to awards.

Entries:

Online only.
Entries Close:  23:59 Australian Western Standard Time (AWST), Friday 3 January, 2020, unless sold out earlier.
Late entries will not be accepted for teams or individuals. 

A waitlist will be available for any categories sold out prior to the official closgin date of 3 January 2020.  All participant details and full payment are required to go on the waitlist.  Waitlisted swimmers who are not successful in obtaining an entry will receive a full refund.  See Waitlists & Transfers page to register for the waitlist.

Entry Transfers will be available.  Conditions Apply.  See Waitlists & Transfers page to initiate an entry transfer.

You can update your personal entry data by using the login information in your confirmation email.  

Entries will be capped at: 100 x 2 person relay teams, 50 x 4 person relay teams, 2100 solo swimmers, 600 One Mile swimmers and 200 Kids Swimmers. TOTAL = 3300 swimmers.

Race organisers reserve the right to vary the capped entries, restrict entries and/or refuse entry to any swimmer.

Confirmed entrants will be emailed an eTicket containing: entry details, check-in time, race number and a copy of the waiver in the week prior to the swim.  Please bring the eTicket and your pre-signed waiver to pre-race check-in.

Junior Swimmers:

Junior swimmers must be at least 8 years old on race day.  Swimmers aged 12 years and under must provide proof of passing stage 8 (as per Department of Education) or equivalent to be eligible to swim in the event. Support Paddlers:

Personal support paddlers, vessels or personnel are not permitted. However, if you feel you have a special need requiring your own support or provisions prior written permission from the Organization must be obtained. A request for such assistance must be made as part of your online entry under ‘special needs’.  An exclusion zone will be in effect under control of the Department of Transport. Paddlers breaching the exclusion zone may be subject to cautions or fines.

Refunds:

Full refunds, less a $10 administration fee ($5 for the Kid's Swim), are only available if applied for in writing or by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and must be applied for prior to Midnight AWST Saturday 30 November 2019.

Partial refunds for withdrawal of Solo, One Mile and Team Swimmers of 50% of registration amount paid, apply from 1 December 2019 to 3 January 2020.  Only available if applied for in writing or by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Full refund, less $5 administration fee, applies for Kid's Swim withdrawals until 3 January 2020.

No refunds will be made after 3 January 2020.
