1. Can I swim around the Jetty?
This would be dependent upon your training and personal fitness.  We cannot advise you on this.  With the Solo event and the 2 and 4 person relay events there are several distance options for a swimmer to choose from. There are Swim Training Programs available through our Resources menu option – please take advantage of the program to improve your training.

2. How far is the swim?
The main course is 3.6km, out to the end, around the Busselton Jetty and back to shore.
The 2 person relay distances are: first leg 1.4km, beach start exiting at Allie’s Landing; second leg 2.2km, starting at Allie’s Landing, rounding the end of the jetty and finishing on the shore.
The 4 person relay distances are: first leg 1.0km, beach start exiting at Jetty Platform (east); second leg 0.4km, starting at Jetty Platform (east) exiting at Allie’s Landing; third leg 1.2km starting at Allie’s Landing, rounding the end of the jetty and finishing at the Jetty Platform (west); fourth leg 1.0km, starting at the Jetty Platform (west) and finishing on the shore.

3. Can I use a swimming aid, ie wetsuit, flippers?
These are allowable but must be declared on the entry. If you swim with an aid, you will not be eligible for an award.

The only exeption is the Corporate Challenge, which is for the organization with the most swimmers in the event.

4. Can I use a speed suit?
Under current Open Water Swimming rules “Speed Suits” are allowable for competition and are not considered to be swim aids for the Busselton Jetty Swim.

5. Are late entries accepted?
No. Entries Close at Midnight Western Standard Time Wednesday 2 February 2011. Late entries will not be accepted.

6. Are entries other than online accepted?

Refunds are only available if applied for in writing or by email and must be applied for prior to the entry closing date of 2 February 2011. A $10 per swimmer administration fee applies and will be deducted from any refund approved by the committee.

8. If I can't swim on the day, can someone else replace me?
If a member of a team cannot swim on the day, a replacement can be approved by the check-in desk for a team member only, not for solo entrants. The replacement team swimmer must fill in an entry form and sign the waiver at the check-in desk.

9. When will the results be available?
All attempts are made to have the results available on the day of the event, after presentations.  The results will be available from the website within the week following the event.
