Can someone else 'check-in' for me?
No. Every swimmer must check-in in person and sign a hardopy of the Swimmer Declaration [waiver](with their legal guardian if under 18). A separate table will be set up for this purpose adjacent to the check-in desks. Check-in will be open 15:00 to 17:30 Saturday 9 February 2013 (preferred option) or 06:00 to 07:00 Sunday 10 February 2013. |
Can I swim around the Jetty?
This would be dependent upon your training and personal fitness. We cannot advise you on this. With the Solo event and the 2 and 4 person relay events there are several distance options for a swimmer to choose from. There are Swim Training Programs available through our Resources menu option – please take advantage of the program to improve your training. |
Is there a minimum age requirement for the swim?
There is no minimum age requirement but only competent swimmers who are fit and adequately trained should enter. As a safety requirement, we will be asking for proof of suitable swimming ability for swimmers 12 years and under. Please note that any junior swimmers must provide proof of completing and passing stage 8 (as per Royal Life Saving) or equivalent to be eligible to swim in the event. Parents or guardians will be contacted after entries have closed. Parents or guardians will also be required to sign a hardcopy of the declaration/waiver at swimmer check-in. No award will be issued to the youngest swimmer. |
How far is the swim?
The main course is 3.6km, out to the end, around the Busselton Jetty and back to shore. |
Can I have a support paddler?
No. On water safety and support is provided by Surf Life Saving and personal support paddlers are no longer permitted, however if you feel you have a special need requiring your own support or provisions this must be indicated as part of your online entry. Swimmers can log-on to and amend their entry any time until entries close. |
Can I use a swimming aid, ie wetsuit, flippers, special swimsuits?
These are allowable but must be declared on the entry. If you swim with an aid, you will not be eligible for a category award. Swim aids include;

What sort of swim suit is allowed?
You can wear whatever swimsuit you desire. If it is a speed suit, it is considered a swim aid and must be declared on your entry (or at swimmer checkin) as you will be ineligible for an award.

What information do I need to enter a team?
A minumum of a team captain and one swimmer (can be the same person) and payment in full is required to register a team. The team captain can log-in later to add the rest of the swimmers, change swimmer details and swim order (up until entries close) For each swimmer:

Are there jelly fish or stingers?
Yes, you should be prepared. These are seasonal, as for most of the coastal areas of lower Western Australia. |
How many people participate in the swim?
Approximately 1500 swimmers starting in waves of up to 200 swimmers. |
Do we all start at the same time?
Individual swimmers start in waves of approximately 200 commencing at 08:00 and continuing at 2-minute intervals. Waves are allocated according to estimated swim time supplied by swimmers when they enter online. Should more than 200 swimmers select the same estimated swim time they will be split according to date entered. 2 person teams start in the third last wave |
Can I enter on the day?

Can we change team swimmers or swim order?

If I can't swim on the day, can someone else replace me?
If a member of a team cannot swim on the day, a replacement can be approved by the check-in desk for a team member only, not for solo entrants. The replacement team swimmer must fill in an entry form and sign the waiver at the check-in desk. |
If I pull out, can I receive a refund?
Refunds are only available if applied for in writing or by email and must be applied for prior to the entry closing date of 6 February 2013. A $10 per swimmer administration fee applies and will be deducted from any refund approved by the committee. |
When will the results be available?
All attempts are made to have the results available on the day of the event, after presentations. The results will available from the website within the week following the event. |

When can I collect my award or trophy?
Swimmers collect their finisher's award from the check-in tent after exiting the swim finish area. Finisher's awards must be collected by 1.00pm race day and will not be posted out. Trophies must be collected at the official awards presentation (approximately 12.00 noon race day). Trophies will not be posted out. Trophies may be collected by proxy. Trophies collected by proxy must be signed for. |
When should I order a t-shirt?
Shirts can be ordered when completing the on-line entry for the event. There are also limited numbers of t-shirts available for sale on race weekend near the swimmer check-in area. |
What if I forget to collect my t-shirt?

Every swimmer receives a finisher's award. Trophies are also awarded as per the awards list (see race rules for category details).
